I joined this community because I am looking for more people to write letters to. I kind of want to build up the habit and have/use stationery for it, but I can only write so many letters to friends and family without feeling like I'm overdoing it.

I want to get into the habit of keeping a journal but a combination of shame and traumatic (but only to a child) experiences involving my written things being looked over by a parent in front of me have made me self-conscious about doing so. On the other hand, I tend to overshare about myself and have found writing letters a really cathartic way to get things out in writing (even if the recipient can't read my handwriting...).

In addition to being a regular history buff and occasional bookworm with an interest in 'culture' generally (including my own and that of my ancestors), I am deeply interested in traditional Chinese culture, history, and literature.

I throw away tons of sheets of practice 'calligraphy' (i'm not very methodical in learning how to do it 'right'), I secretly hope there are people out there who would be interested in receiving some practice calligraphy samples just to look at/play with a little while before tossing in the bin.

When writing letters and notes etc., I usually write in cursive. My handwriting is poor, but I keep telling myself I will rein it in one of these days...

I don't really have any favorite crafts, but I am interested in crafts generally and find value in learning new things. On my medium to long term goal list, I want to start seriously practicing drawing and (watercolor paints).
