1. What is letterlocking?Letterlocking refers to the action of folding and securing a sheet of paper to function as its own envelope, which can also include a wax seal. 2. Methods for sending letter-locked mail:Use a modern, flexible sealing wax: Contemporary sealing wax is designed to be flexible and can withstand the rigors of the mail system, including temperature changes. Place in an outer envelope: For added protection, you can mail the letter-locked item inside a standard, larger envelope. Request hand cancellation: Ask a postal worker to hand cancel your stamp. This process bypasses automated machines, which could potentially damage the locked letter. Choose a simple letterlocking technique: Start with basic "fold and tuck" methods that don't require extra adhesives and can be secured by the paper itself or a simple wax seal. 3. The goal is to write a letter with whatever you want, like maybe a holiday story, classic poem, etc.Use 1 page or more if you'd like and pick any method of folding you want to use. This is meant to be fun and a little something to look forward to this December. I know this is late into the month so don't stress if your letter doesn't arrive on time. Let's get writing and Happy Mail everyone! | |
